Monthly Favorites: October!

Can you believe that it's November already!? October absolutely flew by for me!

Nails:
Nail art was HUGE for me this month and I really enjoyed getting back into it. I had a blast creating all the nail art that I used for my new blog header (look up!^^^) and this zombie design was really fun to make as well. I have some neat stuff planned for sometime in November too, so stay tuned! :)

I am in LOVE with these cuticle oils from 365 Days of Color! I bought the sampler of the cuticle oils and the miracle balms and they are both amazing. There are so many scents to choose from and they are lovely and not fake or overpowering at all. I would definitely recommend picking some of these up!!

Beauty:
I did a lot of a experimenting (for me) with my hair this month. I FINALLY taught myself how to french braid my own hair. I think this is actually considered a dutch braid since the hair goes under itself instead of over, but you get what I mean. My layers mess the braid up quite a bit at the end, but it works well enough to sleep on and get wavy hair in the morning.

Speaking of wavy hair, I taught myself how to curl my hair with my flat iron! It took a while to get it down and they didn't last very long, but I plan on prepping better next time and hopefully it'll work out.

Random:
I finally started cooking some actual meals this month and am SO EXCITED about it. Everything I've made so far has been totally delicious and pretty easy. The photo on the left below is of mini pumpkin pie crescent rolls and on the right is honey sesame chicken over rice. I made the chicken in the Crock Pot and it turned out awesome!

What were you excited about in October?

I Love Fall!

One of my favorite bloggers ever, Jess at Love for Lacquer, tagged me to do this Fall Favorites post and I thought you guys might enjoy it, so here we are!

Lip Product:
The Fresh Sugar lip balm that I got as a free gift over the summer from Sephora is still, without doubt, my favorite lip product ever. It's even more fabulous now that cold weather is coming and my lips are getting chapped!

Nail Polish:
I've worn A England Jane Eyre the most so far this fall, so obviously that one had to make it into this list, but Naild'it Candy Corn has been my pedicure accent since the beginning of September so I definitely had to include that one too. I don't think there's a more perfect fall combo of glitter than Candy Corn!

Starbucks Drink:
I don't go to Starbucks (overpriced caffeinated beverages aren't my cup of tea, so to speak), but my favorite fall drink in general is warm apple cider (with or without rum!) ;P

Candle:
Without doubt, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin by Slatkin & Co. I'm of the firm belief that Bath and Body Works carries THE best candles and I've been obsessed with the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin scent for a few fall seasons now.

Scarf or Accessory:
The leopard scarf that is the backdrop in these photo has been one of my favorite accessories this fall, but my hands down favorite is this leopard ring I made a few weeks ago. I wear it all the time and always get compliments on it.

Haunted House, Hayride, or Corn Maze:
I'd definitely have to pick the corn maze here. I don't like being scared, so haunted houses and hayrides are out of the picture for me, but I used to love doing corn mazes as a kid!

Halloween Movie:
This is tough too since I don't really like scary movies, so let's go with The Addams Family! I haven't watched it in years, but I remember watching it with my dad and pretending to be Cousin It.

Candy to eat on Halloween:
Lately I'm loving these pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses. They're perfect for when I'm craving a little bit of pumpkin and chocolate. But honestly, any chocolate candy will do for me.

What are you dressing up as on Halloween?
My boyfriend and I aren't sure yet if we will be able to attend any Halloween parties this year, but last year we went as Allie and Noah from the Notebook, since Joe gets told annoyingly often that he looks like Ryan Gosling. :P

What are you favorite things about fall?

Let's see, other than the things I mentioned here... boots and sweaters, having soup on a chilly day, the gorgeous foliage around here as the leaves change and fall, and pumpkin flavored everything.

So share with me, what is your favorite thing about fall?

Monthly Favorites: September!

Nails:
I was asked to take part in the Milani Fall Nail Trends project this month and it was so much fun coming up with designs for them! The first photo is of the "Haute Rod" design I did and loved. It was so fierce and totally not something I would typically wear, but I can't wait to do this mani again and wear it out! The second is Tess D'Urberville from A England. All of the polishes in the Gothic Beauties collection are stunning, but Tess D'Urberville was definitely my favorite.

Beauty:
When I found out that the limited edition Alice in Wonderland EOS lip balms has Mickey Mouse heads on the back of them, I knew that I needed to own them. Luckily, my Target is awesome and had two left in stock when I went to look for them!

The highlight of my blogging life in September was being asked by Cristina at Let Them Have Polish to do a guest post on her blog! After fangirling out for a little bit, I said absolutely yes and started brainstorming an awesome idea for her. I can't show you the mani since she hasn't posted it just yet, but I did take a photo when I was preparing to do it! Make sure you check over on her blog in a couple of days to see the finished mani! (Pssst: it's really awesome! ;P)

It finally got cold enough that I could break out my sweaters and boots! Also, this photo shows the new jeggings I got recently from American Eagle. They are perfect for wearing with boots and I'm so happy I finally caved and bought a pair. My sweater is from Gap, scarf is from American Eagle (I think), and boots are from Target.

Random:
My boyfriend and I moved out of our parents' houses in the beginning of the month! We are having a great time and are really enjoying being on our own. The first photo here is of a celebration gift from my mom and the second photo is a view from our fire pit by the lake. I put a filter on it with a photo editing app so that it matched with my pink iPhone case. :P It's so gorgeous down there!

September was a great month, but I'm really excited to see what October has in store! How was your month?

Monthly Favorites: August!

I totalllllly forgot that I wanted to do a monthly favorites post, but better late than never, right? So here's a quick post about my favorite things during August.

Nail Polish:
I did these awesome leopard print nails for my boyfriend's sister's baby shower that was jungle-themed at the end of August and they totally sparked a new love of animal print. I didn't get a chance to take a good photo of them with my camera, but I have a quick Instagram shot below. I'll hopefully be re-doing them at some point so I can post about them! I also included my swatch of Darling Diva Polish's 13th Colony from her Battlestar Galactica collection because I'm so in love with it.

Hair:
I finally figured out how to do a real, true sock bun! I only got it to work really well once, but I'll take it! I'm sure it will get easier as my hair gets longer as well. I can't wait until I can do these all the time; I love the way they look!

I also got my bangs back this month! I was having issues with them and needed to grow them out a bit, but I was finally able to have them trimmed back into proper side bangs. I was unnaturally excited about this! :P

Random:
Three words: sweet potato roll. I've been obsessed with these ever since I first tried sushi during last winter and man, I really could eat one every day. SO DELICIOUS.

So those were my favorite things for the month of August! I'm hoping September's favorites post will be better and longer :) What did you love in August?

Monthly Favorites: July!

Hey everybody! This is a new thing that I'm going to be trying out on the blog: a monthly favorites post! My friend Jess at Love for Lacquer has been doing one of these posts for a while now and I love reading hers, so I thought maybe you guys would enjoy it if I did one. So without further adieu, my favorite things from July:

Nail Polish:
Two of my very favorite nail polishes that I acquired during July were Naild'It Summer Lovin' Melon (left) and Rescue Beauty Lounge Coral (right). Both are amazing polishes in their own way and I'm thrilled to have both in my collection.

Make Up:
In July, I really started getting into wearing make up again and I really went crazy trying new cosmetics. So far, my two favorite products are NARS powder blush in Orgasm and Buxom lip gloss in Samantha. The lip gloss is such a flattering color on me and I love how the minty-ness makes my lips tingle.

Random
My aunt bought me this little anchor bracelet for my birthday and I haven't taken it off since I got it. It's tiny and perfect and I don't think I could love it anymore than I do.

I also tried Nutella for the first time in July and am now completely obsessed with it. It's heavenly on a warm english muffin for breakfast!

I became obsessed with a summery Coach bag with sea shells on it at the beginning on July, but quickly realized I would not have the funds to own it. Luckily, I found this adorable make up bag at my local Coach outlet store on sale for $14!

And last but not least, two of my very favorite things this July: braided bangs and margaritas! I'm trying to learn how to completely french braid my hair, but so far my bangs are the only thing I can braid decently. And I turned 21 on July 1st, so the whole month was filled with yummy margaritas for me! ;P

So what were some of your favorite things in July? What do you think about this post, are you excited to see more like this?
