Butter London Autumn/Winter 2012 Polish & Lippy Swatches & Review

Hey everybody! Today I have some swatches of a few of the new Butter London polish/Lippy sets for Autumn/Winter '12. I put the polishes and lip glosses next to each other so you can see what they look like together. The Lippys (Lippies? I don't know..) have a slanted doe foot applicator that makes them really easy to apply. The color is also very rich and pigmented on all of them and they are decently comfortable to wear, although slightly sticky.

The first set here is Come to Bed Red. The polish is a rich, bright, siren red that is going to get attention without a doubt. It had a great formula as well, needing only two easy coats. Not going to lie, I was nervous about the Lippy. However, once I started applying it, I realized it wasn't as scary as I thought! It was really easy to get nice, clean lines with it and I'm actually really happy with how it looked on me.
The next set is Tea With the Queen, a pink-leaning nude shade. I like the Lippy better than the polish in this case, to be honest. Same formula on the Lippy as mentioned above, but the polish needed three coats instead of two.
Lastly we have La Moss, a deep, dark burgundy shade just in time for the impending fall season. If the Come to Bed Red Lippy scared me, La Moss had me shaking in my boots. This is a BOLD color and I'm not sure that I could pull it off outside of swatching it, but it's neat to have it in my stash in case I'm ever feeling really brave. The polish is fabulous though, needing three coats but applying like a dream. I went pretty easy on the Lippy since it was so dark and actually really liked it.
These nail polishes and Lippys can be purchased through Butter London's website or in stores such as Ulta. The sets retail for $25 on Ulta's website I believe, whereas the Lippys themselves are $17 and the polishes are $14. What are your thoughts? Do you rock bold lips?

Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss in Yoo-Hoo, Hey Baby, & Hot Mama

I'm back with some more lip swatches for you today. These are a couple of the Full-Bodied lip glosses from Buxom. They are made to plump your lips like the other Buxom glosses, but they are formulated without the tingly sensation for those who aren't so fond of it. They have a flat, foamy paddle-like applicator that takes a bit of getting used to, but holds just enough gloss to make applying super quick and easy.

The first color I have to show you is called Yoo-Hoo and it's a nude gloss. I'm not quite sure how I feel about nude lip shades yet. This one wasn't bad once I dabbed off a bit of the gloss so it wasn't settled down in the lines of my lips so much.

Hey Baby is a bright and shimmery fuchsia. This one applies pretty bold, but you could easily dab some of the gloss off to tone the color down a bit. I really enjoyed this color though, brightness and all!

This is Hot Mama, a bright scarlet gloss. I was really interested to see what this shade would look like on me and to tell you the truth, I really like it!

Buxom products can be purchased at Sephora stores or online at Sephora.com. The Full-Bodied glosses retail for $19 and come in a variety of shades, which can be seen here. So what do you guys think? Are you enjoying these posts? I am!

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss Swatches

More lips everyone! :) These lip glosses are seriously amazing. These are the Marvelous Moxie lip glosses from Bare Minerals. I have Smooth Talker, Sparkplug, and Party Starter to show you. They are really comfortable to wear, they aren't sticky, and they last a long time! They also have a nice subtle tingle and a slight minty fresh scent. I also really like the slanted applicator that they have.
Here are Sparkplug, Party Starter, and Smooth Talker swatched on my wrist. As you'll see on my lips in a second, Sparkplug and Party Starter are pretty sheer, while Smooth Talker has a bit more color and some definitely noticeable golden shimmer.

This is Sparkplug, a dusty pink with some light shimmer.

Party Starter, a nice bright coral that gives me a slight wash of color, but nothing overwhelming. This one has some nice shimmer in it as well.

And lastly is Smooth Talker, a gorgeous pink with gold shimmer. I think this is my favorite out of the three.

The Marvelous Moxie glosses retail at $18 and can be purchased at Sephora stores or at Sephora.com. Which color would you wear?

Buxom Lip Tarnish in Wardrobe Malfunction

Hey everybody! You all know that I branched out recently and started doing some eye posts, but now I have some lips for you too! ;P Today I have Buxom Lip Tarnish pencil in Wardrobe Malfunction to show you. I've never had a product like this before; it is essentially a lip gloss in pencil form, but it also performs as a lip stain and plumper as well! It tingles gently on your lips but doesn't burn like some lip plumping products I've tried before. It stays really well and keeps my lips nice and moisturized.

I am a really big fan of the pencil form too for application. It makes it so easy to apply this gloss flawlessly. I also was pleasantly surprised at how flattering this shade was on me. I thought for sure from looking at the pencil color that it would be way to bright and wouldn't look good on me, but it ended up being a very easy-to-wear bubblegum pink on my lips. Another neat thing about this pencil is that it comes with a sharpener built into the cap, so you never have to worry about being without one!

The above photo is Wardrobe Malfunction swatched heavily on my wrist. The Buxom Lip Tarnish pencils can be purchased at Sephora and Sephora.com and retail at $18. You can see all the color options here.

Butter London Trout Pout Lippy & Nail Polish

You guys know that I don't really do product reviews outside of nail polish, but when I found out that Butter London was releasing lip glosses to match some of their shades, I knew I had to share! The shade that I received to review is Trout Pout, which is a gorgeous salmon pink polish and matching Lippy.

Let's start with the polish: Trout Pout is the perfect summer color for me. I had been admiring this one from a distance ever since it came out and I'm so glad to finally have it. I think it may show up a bit too bright in my photo, but don't be fooled, this is NOT a light, pastel salmon pink/coral. It's just beautiful and the formula was great with two coats.

Now on to the Lippy! I really don't wear lip stick/gloss much (or ever!) so I don't know if I'm at an advantage or a disadvantage for reviewing this product. I swatched it on the back of my hand because all of my lip photos were totally awkward and not going up on the internet for all to see, but I did wear it for quite a while. It has a really nice texture on the lips; it's not too sticky and it doesn't seem to rub off on every single thing I drink out of. Also, if you want a little bit of color but find that the Lippy is too glossy for your taste, you can dab some off with a tissue and still have a slight bit of color on your lips! The color is similar to the polish shade, but less vibrant.

Lastly I have bottle shots so you can see the size of the Lippy compared to a Butter London polish bottle. The Lippy is the perfect size for slipping into a pocket or small bag for going out; I should also mention that it has an angled sponge applicator instead of a brush. I will most definitely be getting a lot of use out of the Trout Pout polish and even though I can't honestly say I'll wear the Lippy all the time, I am going to make an effort to get out of my comfort zone and wear it out a few times this summer!
